Luca Pacini

Italian Diction

The tenor Luca Pacini, after graduating from high school, obtained a diploma in Piano from “Conservatorio Luigi Cherubini” in Florence, where he studied Composition with Professor  Carlo Prosperi and Professor Pietro Rigacci and Canto with tenors Maestro Sergio Catoni and Maestro Gianni Raimondi. He joined the choir of the Teatro Comunale in Bologna, as first tenor, while also collaborating with Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and other Italian Opera Foundations, with whom he toured in Japan, China, England and Russia, and the festivals of Salzburg, Copenhagen and Rossini (Pesaro). In addition to these, he performed in other important theatres such as the Royal Albert Hall in London, Teatro alla Scala in Milan, NHK and Bunka Kaikan in Tokyo and the P.I. Tchaikovsky Auditorium in Moscow. He has been directed by numerous world-renowned maestri, such  as R. Muti, C. Abbado, Z. Meta, W.Sawallish, S. Ozawa and D. Gatti. 

Luca has sung with some of the world’s most famous singers such as: L. Pavarotti, P. Domingo, J. Carreras, J.D. Florez, L. Canonici, M. Freni, E. Gruberova, M. Devia, D. Dessì, L. Nucci, S. Carroli, G. Viviani, N. Ghiaurov, R. Scandiuzzi and G. Prestia. He has worked with directors of the calibre of F. Zeffirelli, L. Ronconi, P.L. Pizzi, L. Cavani and H. De Hana. 

His artistic debut was in 1994 with “I Pagliacci” by Leoncavallo, followed by various principal and secondary roles in works by Puccini and Verdi. 

His repertoire ranges from the Renaissance to the Baroque. He has given hundreds of solo concerts in Italy and worldwide, working with the cultural associations Opera in Roma and Opera in Florence since 2016. Recently he has given recitals in the USA. 

He has taught master classes, including one in Florence for the “Bel Canto Institute” of New York directed by Jane Bakken Klaviter, répétiteur for C.M.   Giulini at the MET and Maestra of Piano in Masters held by the legendary Luigi Ricci, for over thirty years vocal coach to Puccini and Mascagni.
