MEZZO SOPRANO | GREECE
Mezzo-soprano Maira Georgarou is a Greek opera singer born in Athens, Greece.
She has started her music studies at the Nikolaos Mantzaros Concervatory, in the class of Maria Marketou, from which she graduated with Excellency and Honors.
She continued her studies in the Opera Studio of the Municipal Concervatory of A.Varvara, as well as Ms. Hara Savino ,and currently studies privately with Nikos Siropoulos.
Maira has performed in many concert halls and theaters all over Greece including the Megaron Athens Concert Hall, the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation, the Russian embassy's Cultural and Science center, the Anna & Maria Kalouta Theater , the Hellenistic Theater of Dion, the Kamini Cultural Center, the Philological Association of Parnassos, and many more.
Her latest performance was in the role of Suzuki in G.Puccini's "Madama Butterfly"
in the Holroyd Theatre in North Shropshire, UK with the North Wales Opera Company & Studio.
Maira's upcoming engagements include performing G.Bizet’s Carmen as Carmen, with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Athens conducted by Myron Michaelides and directed by Stefano Koroneos. This is at the Cultural Conference Centre of Heraklion, Greece, in collaboration with Grattacielo Theatre of New York, May 2023. Maira is also performing G.Bizet’s Carmen as Carmen, with the Shewsbury Symphony Orchestra conducted by John Moore, directed by Anne Williams King. This is at Christchuch Bayston Hill and Whitchurch Civic Hall, United Kingdom, June 2023.
