Sophie Kochanowska


Sophie Kochanowska is a young Scottish soprano praised for her voice of sheer power and purity and as a revelatory actress of great artistic quality. She has sung at the Wigmore Hall, the Barbican, Blackheath Halls, the Cheltenham Festival, Mozarthaus Wien and has appeared in a live opera gala broadcast for Spanish television and on BBC Radio 3. In 2021, Sophie made her Austrian debut as Fiordiligi with Toby Purser and the Wiener Festspiele Ensemble and sang Tatyana with the Russian Opera Workshop, and in 2020 she sang Mimi and Contessa Almaviva with the International Summer Opera Festival of Morelia. Sophie is a keen advocate of new and rarely performed music and enjoys the curating Lied recitals. She trained at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama and now studies with Jennifer Rowley. She also has an MA in European Literatures and is fluent in English, French, German, Italian and Dutch
