Saverio Alfieri was born in Milan and began his musical studies at the age of 6. He attended the pre-academic piano courses at the Conservatorio ‘G.Verdi’ in Milan with Silvia Limongelli, then attended the Three-year and Two-year piano courses at the Conservatorio ‘A.Vivaldi’ in Alessandria where he studied with Silvia Leggio and where he graduated with full marks and honours in 2021.
In May 2023, he obtained a Master’s degree in piano at the Manhattan School of Music in New York under the guidance of Jeffrey Cohen. He distinguished himself in the following competitions: second prize at the Concorso Internazionale Pianistico Torre Ratti (AL) in June 2013; third prize with merit at the 28th Concorso Pianistico Internazionale Città di Albenga in December 2015; second prize at the Concorso Nazionale Città di Avigliana in February 2019.
Second prize at the Crescendo International Competition in the city of Padua in 2017 and as a result of this victory he performed at the prestigious Carnegie Hall in New York in February 2018. In 2016 he was awarded the ‘Barisone’ Scholarship as the best instrument student at the ‘A.Vivaldi’ Conservatory of Alessandria.
In 2019 he was awarded the ‘Ghislieri’ prize as best graduate student at the Conservatorio A.Vivaldi. He takes part in several concert festivals and concert-lessons performing at the Circolo ‘Alessandro Volta’ in Milan, at music high schools in Cernobbio (CO), Genoa, Bologna, for PianoCity he performs in Milan at the Liceo Classico Virgilio and in Monza at the Liceo Musicale Zucchi, in Palermo on the occasion of the final concert of the best students of the Masterclass held by Silvia Leggio he performs for the prestigious Associazione Palermo Classica.
He perfected his skills by taking part in several Masterclasses with important masters such as Riccardo Muti, Wolfram Koessel, Peter Winograd, Leonard Slatkin, Beatrice Rana, Eugene Sirotkin, Catherine Malfitano, Paul Magi, Giuseppe Andaloro, Roberto Plano, Olaf John Laneri, Epifanio Comis, Giovanni Bellucci, at the prestigious The Juilliard School in New York with Maestro Giuseppe Mentuccia and at the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center with Maestro Arnoud Sussmann.
He attended seminars dedicated to the Concerto for Piano and Orchestra held by Maestro Giovanni Bellucci at the Istituto di Studi Musicali Superiori ‘Claudio Monteverdi’ in Cremona.
In January 2020, he began studying conducting at the Italian Conducting Academy in Milan, led by Maestro Gilberto Serembe. He is a classical piano teacher at the Bronx Conservatory of Music in New York. He is a collaborating pianist in Catherine Malfitano’s singing classes at the Manhattan School of Music in New York. He is currently attending the Master of Advanced Studies in Conducting at the Manhattan School of Music under the guidance of George Manahan.
