In co-production with
Teatro Grattacielo
Suor Angelica is presented in co-production with
Teatro Grattacielo as part of an innovative double bill, celebrating America 250 with two powerful visions of freedom. The spiritual grace of Puccini’s masterpiece is contrasted with the revolutionary spirit of
Jefferson Lives!, a world premiere by Joshua Daniel Nichols commemorating the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.
Together, these works frame the evening as a celebration not only of America’s history but also of the enduring human yearning for liberty, dignity, and grace — values that transcend time and nation. From the birth of a republic to the redemption of a soul, both operas ask: What is the cost of our convictions, and how do we remain true to them?
Through revolution and revelation, the night becomes a journey toward the essence of freedom — both civic and spiritual — and the power of hope that endures across centuries.
