SOPRANO | USA & CHINA
Yi Liu is a lyric coloratura soprano who has performed at major international venues including the Shanghai Grand Theatre, Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall in New York, the Golden Hall of the Musikverein in Vienna, the Kammermusiksaal in Graz, and Casa Verdi in Milan. She has also presented solo recitals in the United States, China, and Europe.
Her roles include Violetta in La Traviata, Mimì in La Bohème, Miss Jessel in The Turn of the Screw, and Loreley in Catalani’s Loreley.
In the 2026 season, she joins Camerata Bardi as Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte and Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi, and performs Mimì in La Bohème with Aeterna Opera.
A prizewinner of several international vocal competitions, she has received First Prize at the Nightingale Opera Theatre Biennial Vocal Competition, Second Prize in the Professional Opera Division of the John Alexander National Vocal Competition, and Third Prize at the AIMS Meistersinger Competition. She has appeared as a guest artist in concert with Sir Bryn Terfel and has shared the stage with tenor Javier Camarena.
She is currently pursuing her Doctor of Musical Arts in Vocal Performance at The Ohio State University. She earned her Master of Music with highest honors from the Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi di Milano and holds a Bachelor of Music from the Shanghai Conservatory of Music.
