Fred Santambrogio

Director | Educator | Movement Coordinator

Fred Santambrogio is an Italian stage director based in New York, with over 25 years of experience in opera, theatre, and live events.

Trained in stage directing at the Accademia Teatro alla Scala, in Milan, he has directed opera and theatre productions in Italy and internationally. His work includes productions for the Center for Contemporary Opera in New York, Opera Theatre in Shanghai, Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa, the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb and Tête à Tête Festival in London. He has also worked with the Cirque du Soleil as Assistant Director.

In 2026, he joined Teatro Grattacielo in New York and worked as Live Action Director and Show Caller for the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Closing Ceremony and Paralympic Opening Ceremony.

Alongside his directing career, he teaches at NABA – Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti and Accademia Paolo Grassi in Milan. He is co-founder of Op.64, a contemporary opera company dedicated to the production and development of new works and educational projects.
